John Patitsas
Commodity & Energy Markets
John is a senior financial markets professional with extensive domestic and international experience in investments, derivatives and structured products as a trader, business developer and manager in London and Melbourne.

John began his career in commodities trading and finance with Credit Suisse, successfully transacting complex financial hedging structures for central banks, mining houses and hedge funds. John headed up the global precious metals department for Commerzbank before moving back to Melbourne to work in the newly deregulated energy market as Originator for Shell owned, EdgeCap.

John has transacted with generators and retailers developing wholesale and retail products and services in electricity, gas, environmental, demand side, hybrids and PPA’s. He also founded a start-up providing risk management and trading services to energy retailers and generators in Australia.

John holds a Bachelor of Business degree, Banking & Finance, from Monash University, Post-Graduate Diploma in Finance from the University of Melbourne and a Diploma of Financial Services (AFMA).
Charles has over 11 years’ experience in providing business development services and advisory to Australian energy efficiency companies, as well as to a diverse range of start-ups.
Before joining VertCap, Charles worked across leading renewable companies such as Thermoshield, Green Street Consulting, Climate Friendly and Village Green Environmental Solutions. His expertise spans both government and private industry on carbon energy projects and carbon management solutions, compliance and reporting requirements for environmental energy regulations, as well as energy saving, technical data and cost effectiveness.

Prior to moving to Australia in 2004, Charles was based in New York City where he worked with his father on Wall Street.​ Charles is a member of the Australian Institute of Energy as a National Director and as Deputy Chair of the Melbourne Branch. Charles is on the Stewards Council of Living Legacy Forests and is an active member of the Carbon Market Institute and Facility Management Association. He was on the Engineers Australia Technical Committee for the National Electrical Energy Conference 2017.
